Bio diesel? How do you make bio diesel? what crops are used? and how much would you have to grow to be able to produce it commercially?
Bio-Diesel? I am interested in using bio-deisel fuel instead of gasoline. The hardest part seems to be finding a diesel - engine car to buy. I dont want a truck, but we cant make due with a small car either. Would Canada have better options? I live in NY
Bio Diesel? We have a fleet of about 40 Trucks. Is this Bio Diesel worth converting over all of our trucks. We average about 480 gallons of fuel used per day. Where do we find this much cooking oil?
Bio-diesel? How can I convert my Nissan Micra (1.5 dci) to accept Bio-Diesel and what can I use as bio-diesel? I am talking about a conversion system that allows you to use vegetable oil in a diesel engine, not the standard bio-diesel. Sorry my question was not very clear.
What kind of vans are best for bio diesel conversions? Me and some friends are thinking about buying a van to go travelling in..We want to convert it ourselves and fit all the bed, kitchen etc in it. We would ideally also want to convert it to run off bio diesel. We plan to buy the van in Germany and it would have to be big enough to sleep 3 of us and enough space that we dont go insane. Have any of you petrol heads out there got any good suggestions as to makes and models?
How many people support bio diesel as a fossil fuel alternative? To grow the crops neccessary to make bio diesel feasible, it would require a HUGE amount of land development, destroying wildlife habitat in the process. Let's not forget that with each crop rotation, the nutrients are being taken from the ground and have to be replaced, which would require fertilizer to be added EVERY year. What about the pesticides that have to be applied to protect the growing crops every year? And what about the fact that there are MILLIONS of starving people who could benefit from food crops being planted instead of fuel alternatives. Any other thoughts? I am just curious as to what others think.
How much investment needed for setting up a Bio-diesel plant? Can any one give me the details regarding the infrastructure and capital needed for setting up a bio diesel plant? I want to set up the plant in India. Can you also please let me know the breakup of the investment amount, that goes into the infrastructure? I look forward to know the machines needed, the area of land etc.
Why do so many people think bio-diesel and E85 are the answers to our fuel problems? The cost (monetary and energy expenditure) of bio-diesel and E85 is about 25% above that of petroleum based fuel sources. We're already seeing a rise in cost for corn, soy, and sunflower containing products. Do you really think that these bio fuels are the answer, or is it possible to come up with a more realistic energy source (like hydrogen) that isn't so costly in terms of energy use and destruction of biomass?
I want to run my car on bio-diesel but I cannot find out whether I can and how? I have a Mercedes E270 Diesel and my father a Saab 95 2.2 diesel. We both are horrified by the price of fuel and want to reduce our costs whilst reducing our emissions. I have tried to contact bio-diesel companies but all I get is how to make bio-diesel as opposed to whether i can run our vehicles on it. The where do I get it will be my next question.
How Do I Make Bio Diesel? How can i make Bio diesel and what vehicles will work safely with it? Also do i need to convert diesel trucks?
What does ethanol and its blends have over bio-diesel? This is what I know: Ethanol and Bio-diesel (bio-fuels) are both generaly made from corn but most plant matter can be used. Also both pollute similairly to non bio-fuels. The main differences deal with production and the powerplant. Ethanol is currently requires more energy to produce than it releases in combustion. It also is less efficent than regular gasoline produceng less horsepower in it engine and requiring additional fuel per mile. Engines desinged to run on E-85 are not as efficent as their conterparts. Diesel engines on the other hand readily use diesel or any blend of Bio-diesel from the factory. they are up to 40% more efficent than comparable gas engines and smell good when running biofuel. BioDiesel is energy effiecient to produce as well. So why is ethanol the chosen biofuel? I would like to think that the extracost of diesel engines is not a major factor in this and that I am missing something. Otherwise "Live green; go yellow" is going to send up some red flags.
Why have the big oil companies ignored bio diesel technology? It seems like many smaller companies have been investing in alternate energy technologies. More specifically, Bio Diesel engineering has made it possible to produce fuel from bio waste. Why haven't the larger Oil companies, with their billions in excess profits, gotten involved with this seemingly availible technology?
Would you use bio diesel instead of normal diesel? Would you trust bio diesel? would you beleive it is ok to use in your car? Please no boffins on how its made and how it combusts i already know that, i just want a general concences on what people think. 10 Points to the most genuine answer.
What is the advantage of Bio Diesel? It costs about the same as ordinary Diesel and my Pajero does not start as easily on it. It was ok on the ordinary pump Diesel. Has anyone in the UK got first hand knowledge of using Bio over a long term?
how to convert a 1964 diesel suburban to bio diesel? i have a 1964 beat up suburban that doesnt do much but sit there. so ive been reading more and more about bio diesel and it seems fairly easy but whats your take on it? is the conversian easy? what about the cold, does the weather effect it??
What is bio-diesel and how it works? Came to be know that the Fossil oil is going to be end till 30 years and bio-diesel must be used. But what is the bio-diesel. Any body there to describe it?
Where do i find detailed info about ethanol and bio-diesel? I have to start preparing my dissertation and need to find as many info as possible on Ethanol and Bio-diesel production: equipment, tools, components, chemical (organic and non ) substances used to implement the production. Thanks Vinnie
Is Bio diesel made in a continuous process anywhere? How is it made? Are reaction vessels always needed in continuous processes? Can a flowing stream of hot oil be joined with a stream of hot flowing methoxide using a simple "Y"-type connection and allowed to react as they continue to flow downstream? Since the products, esters and glycerin, are all liquid while hot and since there is little or no expansion and no gasses generated, would a reaction vessel be needed? I have made several small batches of biodiesl thru base catalyed esterification of triglicerides......i have been reacting ethanol and used cannola oil from the back of my local mc donalds to make biodiesel. it works!
How much does it cost to purchase, and install a bio diesel system? Ok so my professor gave us an assignment and he wants to know how much it will cost to buy and install a bio diesel system for his 1999 ford power stroke 7.3 liter truck. I am having a lot of trouble finding places that do it around northern California, the system seems to cost around 2k, but i cant find anything about the installation. If you can find somewhere that does the installation process please let me know and give me a source, thank you.
