What is the most fuel-efficient way to drive a manual transmission? Tips?
I drive a 2001 tiburon, 5 Speed 2.0 L 4 Cyl. I wish I was getting better mileage, so could you help me out?

- switch gears at the lowest RPMs possible 2,000 probably the best
- go easy on the gas, dont ride the clutch, downshift when accelerating or climbing
- Downshift when braking shift at 3 grand
- Your manual will tell you what points the manufacturer thinks you should be shifting at. Try following that for a while and see if your gas mileage improves. When stopping at red lights or stop signs, places you know you're going to have to stop, put your car in neutral and coast to a stop using the brake. Don't put it back in gear until you're ready to resume cruising speed. Always go up a gear when not accelerating. Don't go past half throttle, ever. If you're not accelerating at half throttle, downshift.
- I coast as much as possible, downhill, coast to a stop. Try to be smooth off the line, shift to higher gear to keep RPM low. Have fun.
- To achieve max gas milage, read the manual for your model and use the proper shift points. And to those people that suggest you keep your RPM low....they should drive automatics. Most four cylinder engines are more efecient at higher rpms.
