What consumes more gas (petrol), driving the car when set to cruise?

or you manually adjusting the gas pedal. While driving on a freeway, which method is fuel efficient? I thought setting it on cruise takes up more gas. Am i correct?

  1. Its wil actually burn about the same. If you not in traffic, set the cruise. It will maintain the throttle position, and thus take the variable of your foot out of the equation.
  2. Depends, on flat terrain then cruise is fine, in hilly areas, then cruise will step on the gas enough to make it down-shift. It all depends on how you drive though, if you drive aggressively CC is better if you drive moderately you might squeeze a couple MPG out of manually adjusting the throttle. Cruise Control does not maintain the same Throttle Position, only the same speed.
  3. sorry dear, but setting the cruise helps your gas milage, because when you set the cruise, the tranny keeps your speed at a constant rate. what i mean is when you set your cruise to , (for example), lets say 70 miles an hour, the cruise keeps it from going over, by breaking its self and when it gets too low, it will pick up to where you have it set at. i love it, wont be without cruise. its great when your traveling long distances, it gives your legs a rest.
  4. No you are not correct. It is more fuel efficient yous cruse control!
  5. actually your wrong, it takes less gas using the cruise control on the freeway as the engine is being held at a steady speed and not going up and down.
  6. Sorry, not true. Cruise is best. It removes operator from constantly adjusting throttle potion to change speeds. When ever you speed up (even slightly) your car uses more fuel.
