which is more fuel efficient, shopping at a near target or driving 11 miles to shop at a walmart?

can anyone help? does anyone have the mathematical answer? not more fuel efficient but economical as far as determining the amount of gas spent vs. amount of money spent on groceries in a local target vs. a walmart 11 miles away? rsvp asap! thanks.

  1. Walmart savings more than cover my 30 mile trip to/from my nearest Walmart/Asda in Swindon, Wilts, UK.
  2. It depends on what and how much you plan on purchasing. If you're going for paper towels you might be better off staying close to home however if you are planning on spending a ton of cash you'd be better off heading to Wal-Mart. Just my opinion.
  3. Well aside from the typically cheaper prices at Walmart, it also depends on what roads you take to get to either. Engines run the most efficiently when they are going faster, so if you don't have a hybrid, then going 25 for a few miles and hitting stoplights might be more money than to get on a 55 road and go straight there.
  4. As long as your buying more than 10 items say, Walmart always saves you money. Everyone always complains about them but would freak if they ever closed. There is a real fancy neighborhood close that fought them for years as far as putting one in there , Walmart eventually won the battle and now it's funny to drive by there and see how full the lot is all the time. Even those that do not have to worry about saving a few dollars enjoy reaping the benefits of Walmart's low prices. We used to drive 30 miles to do Walmart vs. Kroger because the savings was so noticeable after just two isles.
  5. First, check the difference in distance, divide it by your MPG, multiply by price per gallon then multiply by 2 , the latter is to cover other than gas expense. Secondly, do your average shopping at Walmart, stop at Target and then try to figure out how much you would have paid for the same shopping. third step, subtract what was spent at Walmart from what you would have spent at Target. If the amount of first step is larger than third step, then shop at Target. If the amount of third step is larger than the first step, then shop at Walmart.
  6. Hit both stores in one trip to find all your shopping needs. If you are worried about gas, walk to your local Target once a week and drive to both once per week, now that gas is cheap again.
  7. On just one item I saved $7. The local kmart had 100 pills of sleeping for like $6, then I went to walmart they had 200 pills same product and it was only $5. Everything in walmart is more affordable. Just wait till you have a long list.
  8. it would actually depend on either store....see at least our walmart and target are not to far from each other..and we are both highly competive with our prices...we have been known to sneak into their store and check their prices and lower ours, and they do the same ,the last time they came in with a camera and was taking pictures of the prices..but we both know the other is in the store and as long as we dont make it obvious we are doing it,then the other store ignores it,anyways back to the subject.it depends ,how much does your target/walmart pays attention on keeping their prices low?who keeps their shelves stocked with what youd be looking for?who has the most knowledgeable associates that can help you find what your looking for?are either a regular or supercenter?supercenters tend to have a better selection, because of course they are bigger.the answers to these questions would vary depending on the store manager...lol our store manager insists on good customer service ,keep our prices competive, and get the shelves stocked, though often we are short handed ,we do the best we can -walmart associate
