- You'd be surprised, the space in them is like the Jeep Liberty, it has more than meets the eye. They have a Mercedes built trans as well as the rest of the car so my assumption is moderately smooth. Snow might be a challenge, but nothing you can't handle in a VW bug. Don't expect anything magical to happen over bumps, those cars are kinda light and the suspension is not completely figured out by MB. hope this helps
- I hate them personally, but a friend does have one. She says they are easy to drive and shift. Her's is an automatic. She can fit only a few bags of items in and usually has to put bags in the front when only she is in the car. Its absolutely terrible in the snow. Even a light snow will turn into a terror ride and she gets her husband to drive her in his truck if there is snow. It is like a roller coaster on speed bumps. The best thing she can say about them is that they are cheap to drive in fuel consumption only, but she will get rid of it when the warranty is about up. The battery bank is very expensive to replace (about $2000) and they are very unsafe in even a small accident. She didn't realize that until she started driving one then it all came into view. They have a reputation of killing the occupants in accidents by crushing and decapitation in collisions. She said they are impossible to handle on the highway if there are any strong winds and if there is a lot of rain you are slowed down to a crawl because they tend to hydroplane a lot, even with the best tires available on them. They are just so light. She has had to have it lined up several times because of potholes and cracks in the road. The steering system is very light and gets thrown out easily. To keep the tires from scuffing off the alignments are something she has to do frequently. They are basically a slow short drive to work in the city car on reasonable weather days. Nothing to count on year round for your only vehicle. Basically a novelty to have. Like the old BMW Issetta's were back in the 60's. Just a novelty.
- 1. It only comes in automatic and it has lots of reliability problems. 2. Two bags at the most if they are small. 3. No, it is not AWD and it is a car that is low to the ground so it gets stuck in snow easily. 4. As rough as a Kia Rio and Mini Cooper and Hyundai Accent. Lets just say it is one of the roughest new cars. This car requires Premium gas and is very expensive to maintain, and it only gets 41MPG. My bigger, more powerful, faster, more reliable, better looking 2006 Honda Civic gets 40MPG.
