Can a hybrid car take a major car crash, is it safe to drive?

I know hybrid cars is good for gas but, my concern is safety reasons, towards car crashes/accidents. it's a small car, can it take the punishment. If you own one, and had a accident w/your hybrid, please fill me in with the some details. Or stick with a SUV?

  1. Yes, hybrid cars are generally just as safe as other cars their size. Read below for information
  2. I've heard concerns about the potential for injuries from exposed high voltage connections.
  3. You are not comparing similar vehicles. The hybrid cars have to pass the same testing that the traditional cars do. The real difference for accidents is that the rescue teams are trained to cut the car bodies differently so as not to encounter high voltage wiring. Suvs yes they do have a better crash rating but fall way down on the roll over rating. So it's all about the same
  4. all cars sold in US have to pass the same front end and side impact tests. also rollover tests. .......air bags and seat belts are the same.. Sa to a wreck with all those batterys. who knows. the govt maybe... try the US DOT
  5. hybird cars, well it's a good car......for me in safety reason about driving this car or not, is come from ourself.you just has to have faith in youself.worried about accident,i think your car can avod it faster than SUV.
  6. That's a good question. My fiance drives a Honda Civic hybrid, and hasn't had any problems with it in regard to accidents. I definitely recommend it over an SUV. But you can always get an SUV hybrid, too.
